I love my new hairdresser! He's very enthusiastic about his job and feels very strongly that he is a professional. He has invested a lot of time and effort into learning and becoming an expert in his profession and expects that his clients will recognize this. We were having a conversation about professions and professional expertise and professional reputation this morning and he was saying that it bothers him when people don't take his professional opinion as seriously as he thinks they should. I remember feeling exactly the same way when I worked as a travel agent.
